Six chairs
The stylists
Everyone here has their own book, their own specialisms and their own waiting time. Ask for a person by name when you book; if you have no preference, tell us what your hair does and the desk will match you.
Marcia Bennett
Opened the salon in 2011. Cutting for twenty-six years and still takes the chair by the window on Saturdays. Colour correction and curly cutting.
Danielle Rowe
Natural hair and silk press. Came up through the apprenticeship here and has the longest waiting list of anybody on the floor.
Kemar Lindo
Barbering and short cuts, and the person everybody asks for when a fade has to be right for a wedding on Saturday.
Shanice Palmer
Colour. Balayage, foils and the long conversations about whether you really want to be blonde in August.
Andre Clarke
Locs, retwists and interlocking. Books six weeks out and is worth the wait, which he would never say himself.
Joy Sinclair
Third-year apprentice, now with her own book on Tuesdays and Thursdays at a reduced rate while she builds it.
Working here
We train on the floor, not on a mannequin in a back room
Every stylist here came up through an apprenticeship on these chairs, with a senior beside them for the first two years. It is slower than hiring finished and it is the reason six people can cover every texture that comes through the door without passing anybody around.
If you cut hair and you are looking, come in on a Tuesday afternoon and ask for Marcia.
